Cleaning your lashes is the easiest, most important thing you can do for your extensions. If your lashes are not clean, this may be reason as to why your lash extension retention may not be that great. To clean your eyelash extensions, you must use a foam cleanser that is specifically formulated for eyelash extensions, applied with a soft bristle brush. Cleaning your eyelash extensions regularly will help remove traces of oils, dust and makeup. This will help prevent any build up on the lash extensions.
If the lashes get wet within the first 24 hours the water can cause a reaction with the eyelash extension adhesive and it can cause the adhesive to flash cure. What is flash cure? Flash cure is when the eyelash extension adhesive has been exposed to some sort of liquid before it was able to cure correctly. This will make the bond between your natural lashes and the extensions to become brittle and break off.
Rubbing your eyes with eyelash extensions on can cause the lashes to break off or create more shedding which will result in bad retention. It is always recommended to sleep on your side or back. If you tend to be someone who does sleep on their face, we would recommend using an eye mask to protect your lash extensions or to use a satin or silk pillow case.
Using any type of oil-based products can result in retention issues. It is very important not use any eye products that are oil based but also any oil-based products in general.
